Paula Wilson a skinny scrawny polish girl whispered to the new kid, Lisa Winfield " Stay away from that one" pointing to Kim Rogers, "She's nothing but trouble." That was when Kim Smith Rogers looked over, aware someone, somewhere, had her name on their lips, focusing in, she scrutinized the face of a familiar but unknown and beautiful kindred spirit. New prey, in a boring country town middle school, the hunt was on! It didn't take long for the two to become one. Marlene, Kim's current locker buddy and best friend since grade school was a necessary casualty of the new union. "I'm sorry, but you have to go now, I have a new best friend and I need your locker space" Harsh.. but what can you do when you meet your soul mate twin flame at 14 years of age?

That was  33 years ago, that day when the teenage Green Witch met the baby Hempress of Love, the story that continues being so wild you would never believe it even if I told you.

It's a story of deep love and of bitter hatred, desire, passion, jealousy, and most of all, the ultimate feeling of magnetism towards another soul that neither one could explain or resist.

Our connection lead us to form several business alliance partnerships, first with A Little Piece of Magic, in 1998. Lisa's husband at the time gave her 5,000 to start a business and she sought me out to form a grow and garden shop of the utmost unique craziness that you can possibly imagine.

The commercial lot we were given to locate our business was just that, commercial. On SE 23rd and Air Depot there was located a 3000 sq ft two story building that was our new digs & green palace chalet. We bought a brand new green house with heaters and climate control, to build on the lot. Neither of us had built a greenhouse, only shopped in one. LOL I had been attending horticulture classes at OSU-OKC and was beginning my organic gardening activism. We chose plants that attracted pollinators bee's, beneficial, butterflies, moth, hummingbird, basically if it fed any of God's creatures, we offered it for sale in 4" pots. We also carried culinary crafting and medicinal herbs. A local artist supplied us with hemp art jewelry she made locally, and dream catchers. I wish I had the picture of a bunch of us girls having an ear candle burning. All of us taking turns lying on the ground while our sister friends laughed and cracked jokes about the paper plate hanging on the side of our face while a lit burning cone of herbal beeswax flamed, smoked and sizzled, drawing out this noxious orange and brown gunk from deep within the ear canal. We carried herbal concoctions from Mountain Rose Herbs because it was organic and we were learning how to make the preps ourselves.

We made these endless pitchers of red beer with lemon slices. Hot summer nights enveloped our conscious creativity in a way that just did.

The roof was accessible and we spent many nights sitting just watching the cars drive by, talking about nothing, communicating everything. Planning a sustainable future and high on the creative process of a feel good business venture that helped people help the planet.

We worked hard and played even harder. The hot sweaty work of a garden shop worked us up a heavy thirst pretty much every day. On special nights we donned our favorite sundress and heeled strappy sandal combo and hit the Mexican bars located somewhere on the south side of Oklahoma City. I was the only pale freckled face and loved the attention from all the lovely smiling tan patron. The music was loud and lively and happy and the beer flowed freely, until the cops showed up and for some reason the party ended and the crowd fled, scrambling to get to their cars and evacuating the scene. Still not quite sure what that was about but it was a lovely night that highlights my late twenty something memories.

Lisa painted old tires bright beautiful hued colors and planted them up with luscious dahlia. How we got those tires up on the roof terrace I have no idea except I think it involved a ladder and precariously scary heavy lifting climb. The roof top display from the street traffic was awesome and attracted a huge amount of attention for the two girls garden shop. Lisa also painted up the windows with jewel tinted glass paint depicting inspiration phrases and magically green enchanted graphics. I still possess the open sign she made for the business. It's paint crackled and peeling A LITTLE PIECE OF MAGIC, but still very visible with green vines and bright flowers framing the store hours and days of business.

We built garden beds out of recycled truck liner beds that we had acquired from another OK lady in business, Susan, the pottery lady. This lady traveled to Vietnam herself and bartered for a warehouse full of Vietnamese earth fired pottery. She allowed us to pick out whatever pottery we wanted to showcase and sell on consignment at the shop. We planted up the pots with container gardens designed for upscale commercial and residential properties landscape ornamentation bling. The sturdy truck liner bed gardens held 12 cubic ft of soil and we planted up many display beds of the plants we had for sale. They were designed in a way that showed the visitor the plants arranged neatly in their mature state.

That business was a learning curve for us both. We traveled our own separate ways after that and went on living our own colorful lives until reunited by fate and destiny of what is truly meant to be.

After a 10 year break, a reunion took place during a tattoo magazine photo shoot Lisa was modeling and happening down at the Wormy Dog Saloon bar in brick town. Both girls lived really big and experience ran deep for both of the zodiac water signs while individually tearing up their own highway of life. I had been immersed in academics and she had become the Okc rock n roll promotional powerhouse. We joined up again as if not one second has passed since last meeting..
